WALTHAM, Mass. - Last week I told you a group of us - including a social media food influencer - descended upon Tempo for some eats and a live cover band.
Tempo - as expected - delivered. The $14.00 Bang Bang Shrimp (crispy fried wild gulf shrimp, spicy & sweet aioli) was a favorite alongside the restaurant's modern take on the Pu Pu Platter (lobster rangoons FTW!).
It was fun to watch the "Foodie Bootiee" in action, snapping multiple shots of each delicious dish. I quickly learned that behind every influencer is a strong supporting cast. Steve, the Foodie Bootiee's fiancé, provided technical support and more.
The happy couple lives in Westchester, NY and following our dinner a few days later I texted the "Bootiee" some follow-up questions. Here's my exclusive interview with New York's favorite "snack queen."
Ravin' with Ravens: You got the name Foodie Bootiee because you like food and you are happy w/ your bum? Correct?
Foodie Bootiee: Lol, yes foodie bootie because I eat a lot of food and have a fat ass.
Ravin' with Ravens: How did you get started?
Foodie Bootiee: I always just loved food and taking pics and following other good Instagrams so I decided to make one myself.
Ravin' with Ravens: Do you have any advice to someone considering a food IG or blog?
Foodie Bootiee: My advice would be to post whatever you want. Sometimes people get mad when you post something or judge like once I posted MacDonald's and someone dmd me: "ew unfollowing." Lol, I don't have advice if you are trying to like make a job of it being that I don't get anything out of it.*
Ravin' with Ravens: How does your fiancé help you? It looked like he was lending you a hand.
Foodie Bootiee: Steve's phone takes better pictures and I ask his opinion for what looks best since I take more than one pic of the same thing.
*I think it's great to follow your passion. It feeds the soul. Keep going, Foodie Bootiee!
Original Post:
There's a group of us heading out tonight to Tempo, home of "Creative New American" cuisine in an upscale-casual bistro setting.
Spoiler alert: I've been there before (it's quite good) but never on a Saturday for the live music. Tonight, the Eric Grant Band takes the stage at 9 p.m. ($5 cover).
Bonus: One member of our group is a foodie / Instagram influencer traveling from New York. She's called the "Foodie Bootiee," and I'll be curious to hear what she has to say about Tempo, which was my choice. Maybe I will review her review of the place.
More to come.
